The Economic Times stated that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and the Tata Group of India are collaborating to open 100 stores that offer only Apple items.

According to the news source, which cited two people with knowledge of the situation, Tata Group’s Infiniti Retail will open stores that are approximately 500 to 600 square feet each in locations such as malls, “high-end” areas, and neighborhoods. The company will also become an Apple-authorized reseller.

The Economic Times also pointed out that while the larger stores would carry all of Apple’s (AAPL) products, including MacBooks, the smaller shops would mostly sell iPhones, iPads, and the Apple Watch.

Seeking Alpha contacted Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), based in Cupertino, California, but they did not react right away. In premarket trading on Monday, Apple stock increased slightly to $142.68.

Apple and Ericsson Deal

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Ericsson (ERIC) signed a worldwide patent cross-licensing deal last week for Ericsson’s proprietary, patented, and standard-critical technologies.

The two parties have come up with a global patent cross-license agreement for the latter’s patented technology, which is important for the cellular standard.

In addition to giving specific intellectual rights, the license agreement ends all patent-related legal disputes between the two companies.

Ericsson (ERIC) has previously said that Apple (AAPL) broke a patent on 5G chips used in iPhones by using them. In the meantime, Apple filed a countersuit against Ericsson to stop that company from bringing wireless base stations into the U.S. Ericsson and Apple have decided to work together on more business projects, especially in the areas of technology, interoperability, and setting standards.

For Q4, Ericsson anticipates IPR licensing income from the settlement and licensing division to be between SEK 5.5 billion and SEK 6 billion. Most of the company’s 3% year-over-year growth in organic sales in Q3 was due to its networks in North America. Its IPR licensing income has been affected by the expiration of patent license agreements, the switch to 5G technology, and the effects of currency and geopolitics.
