Moderna stock didn’t move much because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to suggest updated vaccinations for children in one month. Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) has asked the Food and Drug Administration to approve its Omicron-adjusted booster doses for children.

Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA), a biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has put in two separate applications for emergency use authorization (EUA) for the vaccine known as mRNA-1273.222. The first application is for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17, and the second is for children between the ages of 6 and 1.

The Food and Drug Administration gave its approval in August for an improved booster injection that was intended for those aged 18 and older. The original COVID strain and Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 have been added to the protection offered by the modified bivalent vaccination.

Both rival vaccine manufacturers, Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) and BioNTech (NASDAQ:BNTX) have received authorization from the FDA to use an improved version of their booster vaccination in people aged 12 and older.

PFE announced their plans to seek FDA permission for an Omicron-adapted booster aimed at children aged 5 to 11 at a conference at the CDC AdCom earlier this month. The meeting took place at the beginning of this month.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will hold sessions for its vaccine advisory group on October 19 and 20.

Earlier, it was reported by a federal health body that the United States government has sent over 25 million doses of updated COVID-19 booster injections. Most of these doses came from PFE and BNTX, and Moderna stock is working to increase its output.
