Eu Calls On Shopify (SHOP Stock) To Enhance Their Platform In Order To Make Online Commerce More Secure

According to a statement issued by the European Commission on Friday, the e-commerce company Shopify (SHOP Stock) has indicated that it is dedicated to implementing enhancements that would make online purchasing more secure for customers.

Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) has committed to making changes to the design of its templates in order to include fields for company information and contact details, to provide clear guidance to merchants regarding applicable EU consumer law, and to provide company details about any EU trader in response to a request made by any national consumer authority.

In addition, the corporation conceded that it would close any online stores that violated EU consumer legislation and would provide all pertinent information regarding the business.

“Online shopping is done by about 75 percent of EU residents who have internet access. This is a big market that can be taken advantage of by con artists and shady dealers, and unless we take action, they will continue to do so “Didier Reynders, the EU Commissioner for Justice, made this statement.
