Trump’s social media company, Trump SPAC Digital World Acquisition (NASDAQ:DWAC), which is going public, jumped 22% on Thursday after Google approved the Truth Social App for its Play store. On Wednesday, the Truth Social app made its debut in the Google Play Market after first becoming live in the Apple App store in February.
The Google Play news follows claims made in late August that the Play Store of Google had rejected Trump’s Truth Social app owing to insufficient content control. Since February 21st, users can download the Truth Social app from the Apple App Store. The Truth Social Android app debuted last week in the Samsung Galaxy Store app marketplace.
Despite the fact that the news is good for the Truth Social app, the former president only has 4.2 million followers on the social media site right now, a far cry from the 80 million or more that he had before being banned from Twitter (TWTR) last year. Some investors are concerned that Trump may find it difficult to reject an offer from an Elon Musk-led Twitter to rejoin the social media behemoth.
DWAC Stock Future Expectations
In an effort to win over additional shareholders, Digital World (NASDAQ:DWAC) on Monday postponed a shareholder vote on an extension for the agreement to take Trump’s social media company public until Nov. 3. Truth Social is now officially listed in Google’s app store, despite being available for the iPhone for months. Wednesday was the first day that Axios revealed that Google had given its clearance to former president Trump’s social network, Truth Social. The app soon became accessible on Android, and it is currently live in the Play Store, expanding its availability to Google’s mobile operating system.
According to a previous Axios article, Google decided to remove Truth Social from the Play Store after learning about several posts that violated its policies, including ones that contained physical threats and incitements to violence. Although it wasn’t officially suspended from the Play Store, Truth Social’s approval was held up until enough adjustments were completed.
