SNAP Drives Augmented Reality at the Vogue World Fashion Show

Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) has collaborated with the prestigious fashion magazine Vogue on several AR experiences for the September 12 Vogue World event. On the occasion of New York Fashion Week, Vogue is commemorating its 130th anniversary.

This season, Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) has designed three exclusive lenses for Vogue. Snap AR technology, such as sky segmentation and surface tracking, is integrated into the Skywalk lens, which will augment the setting of the presentation in real time.

As the models walk down the runway, the lens’ users will be able to view flowers blooming from the ground and floating upwards as the moon appears.

Lenses on Vogue’s Snapchat profile will let users put on their own fashion show and express their particular style, allowing them to feel like they’re walking the Vogue catwalk from the comfort of their homes. The lenses were designed by Snap’s own augmented reality (AR) creative team, Arcadia.

By utilizing a Snap-powered augmented reality try-on experience, the Vogue Runway app will soon bring many outfits from the Vogue World runway to life for consumers. Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) technology enables customers to take a full-body shot and instantly see how the clothes would appear on them.

Vogue and Snapchat previously worked together to host an augmented reality exhibition titled Vogue x Snapchat: Redefining the Body, curated by Enninful OBE, earlier this year. The display demonstrated how digital experiences and bespoke Snapchat Lenses could elevate and transcend traditional fashion designs.

Snap is expanding into augmented reality shopping and gaming to win over users.

Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) has been touting its augmented reality (AR) shopping study on Snapchat. According to a report by Accenture, the worldwide market for social commerce might grow to $1.2 trillion by 2025.

In the beauty and fashion industries, augmented reality try-on experiences have risen in popularity. Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) has made efforts to establish itself as a go-to partner for the industry’s AR aspirations, and major brands like Gucci, Burberry, Farfetch, and Prada have all attempted shoppable AR try-on.

The Snap 3D Asset Manager, an online content management tool for businesses to manage their 3D product catalog, was released in the second quarter of 2022 to ease the development of AR lenses.

Ghost Phone, an exciting augmented reality game developed with Lens Studio and the web-first game engine Playcanvas, was just unveiled by Snap. The game incorporates augmented reality ghosts into the players’ real-world environment through surface recognition and world-scan technologies, compelling Snapchat users to gather phantom power.

Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) has announced that it will provide several free services for augmented reality developers, such as data storage, to aid in creating richer augmented reality experiences.

While the Zacks Internet-Software industry has lost 47.1% year-to-date and the Zacks Computer and Technology sector has fallen 27.1%, Snap’s share price has fallen 73.1%.
