Apple Stock Rises as the Company Avails the iPhone 14 Emergency SOS Function Available in Western Europe

The Emergency SOS satellite feature on the iPhone 14 range will now be available in more western European nations, according to a Tuesday announcement from Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). The internet giant announced that the function will go live today in France, Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Next year, support for more nations is anticipated, according to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) formally debuted the function in the United States and Canada last month. When a new iPhone 14 is activated, the service is free for two years; a price has not yet been disclosed.

The new capability, which was unveiled in September, enables iPhone users who are outside the reach of cell towers to connect to satellites by aiming their phone at the sky and at one of Globalstar’s (NYSE:GSAT) satellites.

With the majority of the funds coming to its partner, Globalstar (GSAT), which runs the satellites utilized for the service, Apple (AAPL) announced in November that it will invest $450M in U.S. infrastructure to launch the Emergency SOS messaging function.

Apple Stock Outlook

In early Tuesday trade, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) stock increased by more than 2%, while GlobalStar (GSAT) increased by 1.6%. Investment business Rosenblatt Securities raised its price target on Apple (AAPL) in September, noting “strong interest” in the firm’s new iPhone 14 Pro Max and the fact that customers were “resonating” with the new Emergency SOS features.

Tuesday Rally

On Tuesday, Wall Street began the day with a significant surge. As a result, numerous equities advanced thanks to the updraft of the larger market indices.

The bear market has decimated technology stocks over the past year, but investors saw some optimism today that the economy might finally be improving. The rally was aided by investors’ much-needed confidence boost following the most recent inflation reading. The well-known FAANG stocks all increased this morning as a result.
