Bent and HER Partner for Pride to Connect Queer Communities

In honor of Pride Month, the collaboration aims to connect HER members with their local communities via Bent, promoting meaningful interactions and celebrating queer identity.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 12, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Castro Labs, the creators of Bent, a pioneering platform for the queer community, are delighted to announce a new partnership with HER, the beloved app for the FLINTA (female, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, trans, agender) community. In honor of Pride Month, this collaboration aims to connect HER members with their local communities via Bent, promoting meaningful interactions and celebrating queer identity.

“Our partnership with HER reflects a mutual commitment to supporting queer communities in these challenging times,” said Jeff Kanter, founder/CEO of Castro Labs. “Even as the world grapples with new waves of resistance, we see more people openly and proudly identifying as queer than ever before, and we are determined to help these diverse communities come together and thrive.”

Bent has already helped foster vibrant communities like Club Quarantine, Queer Surf and STRAPPED Toronto. With this new partnership, HER users in select cities including Austin, TX, Columbus, OH, Denver, CO, Orange County, CA, Nashville, TN, Raleigh, NC, Tulsa & Oklahoma City, OK and Brisbane, Australia will be invited to join these thriving communities. Others, anywhere in the world, are encouraged to start their own.

“This Pride, HER is thrilled to partner with Bent, an innovative queer platform that brings together diverse communities,” shared Robyn Exton, founder of the HER app. “Bent supports queerness around the world, facilitating connections and helping members make new friends. With this partnership, we hope to uplift another queer company that shares our vision of fostering safe, nurturing spaces for queer individuals to connect and thrive, in a world that often makes it challenging.”

This partnership arrives at a critical time. Recent studies indicate that 64% of LGBTQ+ individuals do not feel safe on traditional social networks, and there’s been a 33% decline in LGBTQ+ bars and community spaces in the U.S. from 2012 to 2019, with an additional drop of 20.2% from 2019 to 2021. Yet despite this, we’re seeing more queer young people than ever before, with nearly one in five members of Gen Z identifying as LGBTQ+. These numbers further underscore the necessity for platforms like Bent, which provide secure and welcoming environments for the queer community to connect and thrive.
