Fans of Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) usually get to do much more than just watch their favorite movies. Once the company makes a big hit, like “Frozen” in 2013, it can turn that into a brand that is used on everything from backpacks to pajamas, video games to Broadway musicals, and of course, rides and attractions at theme parks.
That’s part of the magic of the company, and it’s why a hit from Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) is more important than a hit from another company. And because Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) makes movies for all ages that are good for families, its biggest movies are perfect for huge brand expansions.
“Frozen” has not only getting a sequel, but it has also gotten pretty much the full Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) treatment. Yes, there is a Broadway musical, more merchandise than you can imagine (and not all of it is for kids), and a huge presence at Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) World in Florida.
In fact, “Frozen” is one of the few newer movies (ones that don’t have characters like Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck) that has a presence at more than one Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) World park. There is a “Frozen Sing-Along” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and a “Frozen Ever After” ride and character meet-and-greet at Epcot’s Norway Pavillion in the World Showcase.
One of these rides or attractions was supposed to leave, at least for a while, but that’s not going to happen.
Frozen Fans Still Get to Sing
One of the most annoying things about going to a Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) theme park, especially now that you have to make a reservation, is when something you wanted to see breaks down or is closed for some other reason.
Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) does let people know about repairs ahead of time, but most people plan their trips to Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) World at least a year in advance. That means that when you set your dates, you might not know that the theme park giant is closing something that you or someone in your family really wanted to see.
It looked like that was going to happen to “Frozen” fans who wanted to sing along at Hollywood Studios later this month. But without saying why, BlogMickey said that Disney has quietly taken the popular attraction off its list of things to be fixed.
“The Frozen Sing-Along that was supposed to be fixed up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been taken off the list of things to be fixed up. Originally planned for August 22 to September 9, 2022, showtimes have been added for those dates after being removed for renovations,” the website said.
Disney sees its theme parks as a strength.
CEO Bob Chapek said during the company’s earnings call for the third quarter that most of the problems caused by the covid pandemic have been fixed.
He added that there was new magic all over the world, and the business did well. The theme parks are now open, and more of the great things that people love, like Character Meet and Greets, the Nighttime Spectacular at Disneyland, and live theater performances, are now available. According to him, guests love these things, and they also help get more people into our parks every day.
The CEO also talked about how well Disney World and Disneyland had done.
He said although the cruise ships and international tourism haven’t fully come back, domestic demand at our theme parks is still high, and businesses that are still getting back on their feet after the pandemic are making progress.
