Pepsi (NASDAQ:PEP) will release earnings for the third quarter on Wednesday, October 12, before the market opens.

During the last three months, experts have revised earnings per share forecasts up three times and down ten times. There have been eleven increases in predicted revenues and one decrease.

Revenue is expected to reach $20.81B, up 3.1% year-over-year, while earnings per share are predicted to reach $1.85, up 3.2%.

With higher-than-expected input cost inflation planned for the remainder of 2022, Pepsi (NASDAQ:PEP) beat Q1 profit projections. Still, it offered a mixed outlook for the whole year.

Morgan Stanley recently advised clients it views the company as a top buy due to its expectation of further outperformance. The beverage giant is said to be contemplating layoffs despite a strong result. In September, the firm ended its Russian activities.

Jefferies also expects a positive quarter, but Pepsi (NASDAQ:PEP) wants to hear from PepsiCo’s management about its plans for its energy drinks after it bought a piece of Celsius Holdings (NASDAQ:CELH) in the first half of the year.

A stronger currency and generally higher agricultural costs may prompt Pepsi (NASDAQ:PEP) to revise its cost projections.

J.P. Morgan predicts that the trend will continue as customers shift their budgets away from luxury things and stores focus on low-priced categories. However, Pepsi stock bottom line may continue to be hampered by inflationary cost pressures and foreign currency.

The soft drink Pepsi stock price is down for 2022 but has outperformed the market. Over the last year, shares have continued to rise.

Both earnings per share and sales forecasts for the last two years have been consistently surpassed by Pepsi stock.
